THE HISTORY OF FAIR CROFT FARMS, CAMDEN, SOUTH CAROLINA

Sweet Pea and Anemone

Founded by Sarah Jeanne Owen in Ridgeway, South Carolina in 1977, Fair Croft Farms began as a show barn for Hunter/Jumpers. Her stallion at the time, the highly regarded Thoroughbred Fair Ripple, sired numerous Champions including Solarus, Hush Money, Fair Affair, Fairfalutin', Task Force and Command Force.

In 1993 she moved the farm to Damacus, Maryland, and began a decade-long Irish Sport Horse import business, working with top trainer Tom Waters, and watching the horses they trained and showed reach top competition levels nationwide.

In 2003, Jeanne returned to South Carolina, founding a new Fair Croft Farms in Camden, SC, and bringing with her the Sport Horses from Maryland that needed rest and rehabilitation. Now focused on restoring health to her valuable show horses, and breeding new horses for hunting and showing, she expanded the farm to include 3 new barns (a mare-and-foal barn, a retiree's barn, and a rehab barn) in addition to the handsome original 8-stall barn used for the current show horses.

While no longer breeding, today the Farm continues to provide rehabilitation and retirement services for their older horses, and offers quality Thoroughbred, Thoroughbred X's and Sport Horses for sale.
